I’m Dr. Glen DSouza, a Chemical and Biochemical Engineer, specializing in sustainable materials and process engineering. I recently completed my PhD at the Industrial Bioproduct Laboratory, Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, Western University, London – Ontario, Canada. My doctoral research focused on developing biodegradable bio-phenol formaldehyde (BPF) foams from lignocellulosic biomass for floral, hydroponic and environmental remediation applications. 

Prior to my PhD, I earned a Master's degree (M.E.Sc.) from Western University, where I specialized in the computational fluid dynamics of bubble column reactors equipped with internals. My academic journey began at R.V. College of Engineering in Bangalore, India, where I completed a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, conducting early research on polyethylene biodegradation using Aspergillus fungal strains. 

Outside the lab, I am deeply passionate about teaching and academic mentorship. I’ve taught Environmental Sustainability as a per-course lecturer at Huron University College and serve as an Instructor at Western University's Center for Teaching and Learning. Over the past five years, I’ve been actively involved as a teaching and grading assistant for a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses. 

My research interests include waste-to-resource recovery, polymer engineering, circular economy, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), multiphase reactors, and engineering education. I take pride in my ability to adapt, lead, and communicate effectively in diverse academic and professional settings. I’m driven by a bold curiosity and a relentless passion for research and teaching.
